Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American anchor for a television newscast and a commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a radio and TV reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located which was based in Washington DC. In Washington she was made general correspondent for NBC News two year later. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office in 1988. She was named the chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell participated on the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was on an audience for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering for the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She has covered several notable news stories throughout time, including budget reform, tax reform and an investigation into the Iran Contra affair. She traveled frequently with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
